Privacy Policy
What stays on your device
Everything you make with Studio. Specifically:
- Your footage. Clips you record or import are edited and rendered on your phone. They are never uploaded to us.
- Your drafts. Unfinished edits, and copies of the clips they use, are kept in the app's own storage on your phone so you can come back to them. Deleting a draft deletes its copies.
- Your exports. Finished videos are saved to your photo library, and shared only where you share them.
- Your settings. Stored on your device only.
- A small diagnostic log. Studio notes what the editor was doing in a file on your phone, so a crash can be understood after the fact. It is never sent anywhere.
Captions and background removal
Automatic captions are made by a speech model that ships inside the app and runs on your phone's own processor. On iPhone, if that model cannot run, Studio can use Apple's speech recognition instead, and only in its on-device mode: if your iPhone cannot recognise speech offline for a language, Studio makes no captions rather than sending your audio to Apple.
Background removal also runs entirely on your phone. On Android, the models it uses are delivered by Google Play the first time you open that tool, as a download to your phone. Nothing about you or your video is sent as part of it.
Permissions Studio asks for
- Camera and microphone, to record video in the app.
- Photos, to import clips and pictures you choose, and to save the videos you export.
- Speech recognition (iPhone), for the on-device captions fallback described above.
Each one is asked for when you first use the feature that needs it, and you can turn any of them off in your phone's settings.
Posting to Napharu (optional)
Studio can post a finished video to Napharu, a creator-owned social network. This is the only feature that uses the internet, and it does nothing until you open it.
- Signing in. Your Napharu username or email and password are sent to Napharu over an encrypted connection, once, to sign you in. Studio does not keep your password. It keeps the sign-in Napharu gives back in your phone's secure storage, so you do not have to sign in every time.
- Posting. The video, the caption you write and the audience you pick are uploaded to Napharu when you tap Post, and nothing else.
- Disconnecting. Tap Disconnect on the posting screen and Studio forgets your sign-in. Deleting the app does the same.
Once a video is on Napharu, it is handled under Napharu's Privacy Policy.
Analytics, advertising and tracking
There are none. Studio contains no analytics, no crash reporter, no advertising network and no third-party code that reports on you. It does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Your footage and AI training
Your videos are not used to train any AI model, by us or by anyone we work with. We never receive them in the first place.
Children
Studio collects no data from anyone, including children. Posting to Napharu requires a Napharu account, which has its own age requirements.
Your rights
Laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete the personal data a company holds about you. Through Studio we hold none. To remove everything Studio has stored, delete the app. For anything you have posted to Napharu, see Napharu's Privacy Policy.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date. Studio is built around collecting nothing, so any change in that direction would be a change to the product, not a quiet edit to this page.
